Learning AI the Kampung Way
Ilmu Nexus exists because we believe people learn better when they feel they belong. We built a school around that.
Back to HomeHow Ilmu Nexus Came to Be
Ilmu Nexus grew out of a simple frustration: too many people in Malaysia wanted to learn AI development but felt that existing options were either too fast, too isolated, or too far removed from their everyday context.
We started with the idea of a kampung — a village — where knowledge moves between neighbours, not just from a single teacher at the front of a room. That shaped everything: the peer courtyard model, the weekly mentor clinics, the emphasis on local-context projects, and the unhurried pace of our programmes.
Today, Ilmu Nexus operates from Kuala Lumpur with three structured programmes covering the full range from first lines of Python to deploying neural networks. Our learners come from diverse backgrounds — fresh graduates, working professionals, career changers — and what they share is a preference for learning alongside others rather than alone.
Our Core Values
-
Community First
Every decision we make asks whether it strengthens the learning community.
-
Respectful Pace
We design programmes that fit around real lives — not the other way round.
-
Local Relevance
Projects and examples are rooted in familiar Malaysian settings.
-
Honest Teaching
We tell you what you genuinely need to know, not just what sounds impressive.
The Mentors Behind Ilmu Nexus
Our mentors are practitioners who have built real-world AI systems — and who chose to teach because they care about how learning happens.
Ahmad Hafeez
Lead Mentor & Founder
Built data pipeline systems for local fintech companies before founding Ilmu Nexus. Leads the Practical ML Cohort.
Nurul Razali
Curriculum Lead
Education researcher with a background in adaptive learning design. Shapes how each programme is structured and paced.
Siva Krishnan
Deep Learning Mentor
Former ML engineer at a regional technology firm. Guides learners through the Deep Learning Builders Programme capstone work.
How We Maintain Programme Quality
Practitioner-Led Teaching
All mentors are active or recent industry practitioners. Teaching is grounded in what actually works in production environments.
Curriculum Review Cycle
Programme content is reviewed before each new cohort to keep tools, libraries, and methodologies current.
Learner Feedback Loops
Mid-cohort and end-of-cohort surveys are reviewed by the curriculum team. Suggestions that improve clarity are acted on promptly.
Data Privacy & Protection
Learner data is handled in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. No personal information is shared without explicit consent.
Cohort Size Limits
We keep cohorts small so mentors can give each learner real attention. No overselling seats beyond what the programme can meaningfully support.
Transparent Programme Details
Programme outlines, learning objectives, and pricing are clearly published. What you see is what you get — nothing is hidden behind a sales call.
AI Development Education in Kuala Lumpur
The demand for people who can work confidently with machine learning systems has grown steadily across Malaysia — in finance, logistics, healthcare administration, and public services. Ilmu Nexus was built to help meet that need from within the community, rather than importing a curriculum designed for a different context.
Our three programmes cover the full arc: Python and data fundamentals, applied machine learning, and deep learning deployment. Each is self-contained, so learners who already have some coding experience can join at the level that fits them. The cohort structure means you are never learning in isolation — peer support and mentor feedback are woven into every week, not offered as extras.
We are based at Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur, and our learners come from across the Klang Valley and beyond. For those who cannot join sessions live, recordings and exercise files are available throughout and after the programme. Our alumni courtyard remains accessible after graduation — a quiet place to ask questions, share what you are building, and stay connected to the community.
If you are looking for a place to learn AI development that feels human-sized and grounded in where you actually live and work, Ilmu Nexus may be the right fit. We welcome enquiries from learners at any stage.
